All Things New

When the snow began to fall on Christmas Eve, my heart leaped with excitement and hope. The snowflakes that soon covered everything in white, brought peace. It reminded me that as this year comes to an end, despite all the not-so-good we have endured, Jesus can make all things new.

Behold, I am making all things new.

Revelation 21:5

Even in those not-so-good moments when everything seems to be changing, Christ remains the same. His love and faithfulness is always constant, never shaken.

Just as the snow covered everything this Christmas Eve, Jesus covers us. And just how gentle a snowflake falls, Jesus gently loves us. No matter how harsh this year has seemed, He shows us gentle kindness and love.

Those Christmas Eve snowflakes spoke grace to me.
Hope.
Love.
New life.

I love how the snow quiets everything. It is like you can hear peace. It brings a stillness and quietness.

As the year ends, many of us will reflect and look ahead to the new year. While we can probably all admit this has been a year of uncertainty, I also believe it has been a year of growth and awakening for the deepest parts of our heart.

Psalm 131 is a beautiful reminder and lesson for me this year.

My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore.

Psalm 131:1-3

This has been a year that I have had to learn to let go and take hold of Him. Truly let go. Let go of all expectations. Let go of shame and pride. Let go and receive the love of the Father and put my hope in Him.

How has He revealed His goodness to you this year? Maybe all you need is a snowflake as a gentle reminder that He covers you and He can make all things new.

  1. I just recorded practically this same message to share with my elementary students for next week’s announcements. I always share scripture and something God lays on my heart for a small devotion. It was a special blessing to read this blog this morning to hear affirmation of God speaking.

Thank you, Mel. God gives great encouragement each week through your blog. It is a wonderful blessing to read weekly.

I pray your cup overflows with blessings from your obedience.

  2. I love how you intentionally look at Creation and let the Holy Spirit speak to you through it!! Truly beautiful, and yes…peaceful. ♥️❄️
