Dreams Sparked in the New

The start of a new season sparks so much hope in my heart. How about you?

There’s just something about a new season that stirs the dreams within my heart, too.

Before moving forward into the new, I love to glance back to reflect on all Jesus has been for me during the former season. As summer fades and fall warmly invites itself in, I reflect in wonder of the former and the new season to come. I have embraced His joy like never before all the while enduring new challenges that have taught me to press in closer to Jesus in the secret place.

I also look back, celebrating my dreams which is what I want to share with you today. May we celebrate our dreams, big and small!

I decided to start this blog a year ago. It was my small dream that was birthed from the overflow of a transformed heart. All Jesus. I wanted a new place, away from the noise of social media, for others to come to encounter a place to find rest.

When Jesus does something new in your heart, your desire for the new transpires. Our dreams tucked safely in our hearts can be the very thing that brings new life for us! When we are intentional about trusting our dreams to Jesus, He does immeasurably more than we can truly think or imagine.

What is that one dream dancing in your heart right now that you want to pursue?

Do we hestiate to be intentional about moving toward our dreams because we think they are too small? Maybe we are comparing our dreams to someone else.

Or thoughts come rushing in like these – someone is already pursuing my dream, so do I have anything to really offer? Does it matter?

Friends, it absolutely matters. If it’s a dream in your heart that sparks hope and joy deep within, leap into the deep and run after it. Even if the steps to get closer to your dream seem so ordinary or slow, those stepping stones really do matter.

A new season opens a door to look in anticipation for the new. There is new life always to be found. We simply have to seek our Father God and we will find it.

I’m so glad that we don’t have to keep the old. We are new creations in Christ with the joy of getting to embrace the new! We have a new self that is always being renewed though Christ (Colossians 3:10). No matter your age or what season of life you’re in, you are being renewed every single day. I truly believe those dreams deep within you will bring new life as you explore just what Jesus desires to do through your dreams.

Entrust your dreams to Jesus. And be intentional about taking steps to make your dreams happen.

Be intentional but don’t pressure yourself. Several weeks ago, I started the journey toward a dream that was stirring in my heart. My heart knows it will bring new life in a new season, so I am pursuing it. Here’s what I wrote down in my day calendar to remind myself to yes, be intentional but also make realistic goals that inspire rather than pressure – “Spend 30 minutes on my “dream project” most days.”

Notice that I said “most days”. Goal experts are probably going to recommend to be much more specific than that but I am pressing toward intentionality for those most days. Some days are simply going to flow differently that are going to call for some extra grace.

What if we try these simple steps toward our dream . . .

Be intentional. Truly seek out your dream most days, whatever works best for you.

Be graceful toward yourself.

Don’t pressure yourself.

Talk to Jesus about your progress toward your dream. Make Jesus the center of your dream so new life always comes forth.

Keep dreaming, friends! And take the next step so you can start flowing in your dreams sparked in the new!
