Every time I go to the ocean, I’m mesmerized by the waves coming in to meet the shoreline. I find watching the waves roll in time well spent. Something about the waves’ rhythm brings me to a place of reflection and peace.
While waves may often be thought of as life’s burdens crashing in on us, the waves brought new insight as I steadied my gaze on the incoming waves. The Creator of the waves is consistent. God is always constant. Just as the waves rhythmically come to the shore, God meets us where we’re at, time and time again. So, how do we find hope beyond the waves of doubt?
My perspective changes when I look beyond the waves and see how my Creator meets me at the shoreline. He meets us right where we’re at, even when doubt tries to land in our thoughts. Instead of seeing the waves as crashing, may we see our Creator of the waves as constant.
Our Father God is our waymaker. He makes a way for us to see beyond what we’ve always seen before. I don’t focus so much on seeing waves crashing my joy. Holding onto the One of truth, I know I no longer have to allow doubt to toss me back and forth like the waves. Today, I rejoice in the hope that the consistency of the waves will bring.
God’s love and truth are constant. Watching the waves consistently greet the shore reminds me of the Father’s endless love.
We have a God of always. He is always loving, kind, and faithful. God is always all-knowing, powerful, and majestic. He is always with you, even in your unknowing.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today forever.
Hebrews 13:8
Just as the waves always make their way to shore somewhere on Earth, our Heavenly Father is always making a way for us.
He is the way. With Christ within us, doubt fades. We aren’t crushed by the waves when we hold onto our faith and cultivate it to become a part of everything we are. We have hope. And with this hope, our focus is not on the crush of the waves. Rather, we fix our eyes on the constant faithfulness of our Savior. We don’t see the crashing of the waves. Rather, we see the beauty of the waves, designed by our Creator.
I could have easily sunk into doubt just this week. A deep conversation with someone made me question and wonder. I could fall into worldly thinking, but that’s not who I am. I had to remind myself that waves of doubt no longer belong in my story. Jesus has made a way for me to see the waves as constant love greeting me at the shoreline.
If you are anchored in Christ, never doubt the hope you have. Never doubt the love He has for you. Despite the waves that may try to crash into your joy, your joy is made complete and constant by your faithful Creator.
