I got to travel this past week and was inspired by the girl next to me on the plane.
She shared some of the same uncertainty I was feeling yet her words carried boldness and light that encouraged me and sparked hope.
Our words and actions matter. We can be hope to those around us. I was listening to my favorite podcast “Out of the Ordinary” on my trip and Lisa-Jo Baker said something that I love that reminded me of the girl next to me on the plane. She said, “Kindness is the true courage.”
In the midst of a culture full of opinions and hatefulness, there is still light. And we are the light. The girl on the plane inspired what has already been on my heart – to be bold and be love to everyone around me. We need light. We need kindness. We need love.
She also reminded me that our faith is so much bigger than fear. We have to be bold. We have to be the light.
Let’s honor others with love and kindness. Let’s honor others by encouraging them right where they’re at. If your friend is struggling, love them well. If someone needs to hear how Jesus has changed your life, share it with them. We’re all at different places in our journey. Honor them with love and kindness.
Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly as I should.
Ephesians 6:19
The Apostle Paul made this his prayer. May we make it our prayer, too.
May we fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. And also, embrace the wonder and mystery of the gospel. We don’t have to figure it all out. Be bold for the truth.
Fearlessly, be kind. Fearlessly, be light. Fearlessly, be love. Fearlessly, be bold.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear . . .
1 John 4:18
The girl next to me on the plane gave me her bracelet. How kind is that?! It says “My faith is bigger than my fear.” Fear doesn’t have to hold us back. Our faith in Christ is our courage.
And kindness is the true courage! So let’s be kind to others and let’s boldly shine the light of Christ!
Let your faith fly!
Love this baby! Thanks for sharing!
This is pure gold, Melanie!
Awwww this is so sweet!!!! I love that she gave you her bracelet. That is priceless. Thanks for sharing these words… So true and needed!!!

Love your chance encounter with someone who encouraged you – and I have no doubt that you were a huge encouragement to her as well! Love how God ordered your steps to align with hers.
Messages on “being a light” seems to be a running theme as of late. This is no surprise as the need for our lights to shine brighter than ever is great. Thank you for sharing. Your posts are truly inspiring! Blessings!
love this so much friend . What a beautiful reminder of faith and what it means to shine the light . I was reading in Matthew this morning where Jesus taught that we are a city on a hill a light that cannot be hidden under a basket .
Thanks for the reminder of light .
What a great reminder & encouraging word!
Thanks for sharing and bringing Light, sweet friend!
I love how the Lord set you up to be the recipient of someone’s kindness, which then in turn gives you material to share with the world. I love this blog and as I was reading it prompted an idea that I can use to also be a light and spread kindness. Thank You!!
Thank you, Synthia! You are a true example of kindness.
