Looking for Adventure in Every New Day

Have you ever bought that out-of-season item because it was an excellent deal? I’m typically the in-season type of person, but this time, I ventured out of my norm and purchased a Christmas sweatshirt at one of my favorite stores. In the spring season of summer-like weather and nowhere near Christmas time.

This out-of-season sweatshirt was one I didn’t buy last year because I didn’t want to pay full price and now I found it for less than seven dollars. And I love sweatshirts. So, here I am, embracing even the out-of-season things. I need adventure, as long as it’s nothing too big, and this sweatshirt counts in my book! We can discover adventure in any season. Adventure brings us the new we crave. And the adventure doesn’t have to be huge like sky diving. Adventure can be small yet still good for the soul.

Life has been heavy, friends. We see it every day, in our own lives and in the world around us. So today’s post is to allow ourselves to be carefree and find the fun. Look for small adventures that can bring new into your day, even if it’s shopping for Christmas sweatshirts when it’s almost summertime.

Do you ever get weary of routine? Or maybe you’ve been doing the same thing for a long time and need something new? You don’t want to admit that the days have been a little boring or challenging, but deep down, you’ve just longed for a little new to spark joy? Perhaps you need something different, a slight change? While I realize my adventure may not look like the typical adventure, I still think we can all find an adventure that fits us as we lean toward mixing things up.

I need routine in my life. But I also enjoy some adventure. The new things that spring forth in life and the spontaneous days that I least expect can be the most refreshing.

So, today I invite you to ask yourself, how can you change up your day to add something new? Is there something you can do to change things up? What adventure can you embark on today?

As you lean toward adding variety to your day, whether it’s taking your quiet time with Jesus to the park instead of at home or finding a babysitter for a few hours to have some time to invest in a hobby, see it as an opportunity for adventure. I realize our adventures will be different, yet both are beautiful and add life to us.

I’ve been trying to lean toward new things to add a little adventure into my days. These have transpired into my simple joys that I love to mention here often.

I took a day off of work during mid-week, not even mid-week, more like the beginning of the week. I took a day off on a Tuesday and just had a free day to go shopping. That’s how my lovely out-of-season Christmas sweatshirt came to be.

I planted multi-color flowers this year. I usually plant all one color but I wanted something new. I have discovered the multi-colored summer mix looks like neon colors in the sunshine, and it’s the perfect new to welcome in some fun.

I’ve also started mixing up my quiet time with Jesus. Every day looks different, yet no matter what my time with Him looks like, it’s always beautiful and full of meaning, whether it’s morning, noon, or night.

More than anything, I see every day as an adventure with Jesus. He is the One who sparks joy. He brings the new as I decide to let go and open my eyes to see a new perspective. He makes the colors look brighter, and ordinary days turn into days with meaning. And even routines turn into an opportunity to consider new ways.

Choose to have an adventure with Jesus. While we can’t ignore the heaviness of this world, we can choose to look for His goodness. And sometimes, we need to lean in to something new that reminds us that it’s okay to have fun.

The LORD within her is righteous; He does no wrong. Morning by morning, He dispenses His justice, and every new day He does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame.

Zechariah 3:5

Every new day holds goodness. Day after day, Jesus never fails. As I go about every day, I want to seek His unfailing love. I want to look for adventures and embrace new things that can bring joy.

Let’s find the adventure today.
