Never Lost or Forgotten

Last week, I lost something and forgot something, all in the same day.

On the days I drive early in the morning, I always treat myself with a coffee from Dunkin Donuts. (Treat yourself every now and then – that’s a blog for another day 😉 ). I realized as I was getting ready to pay for my coffee that my debit card was no where to be found in my wallet. A Monday morning and a lost debit card . . . I assured myself the day would go better.

I realized later that day that not only had I lost my debit card, I had forgotten something, too. Lost and forgotten, all in the same day. Those things lost and forgotten though were just earthly things. I gave myself grace and was reminded that the One who lives within me never forgets me.

Even during those times when we feel scattered on our I-don’t-have-it-together days, Jesus never forgets us.

Lost something? Forgot something? You’re not alone.

No matter what is lost, if we have Christ in us, we will never lose His love or grace. We are always found in Christ.

Jesus shows us so much grace and we, too should show grace to ourselves.

What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Jesus Christ my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him.

Philippians 3:8-9a

We have union with Christ.

We are united with Him. We are in agreement with truth that always keeps us on the right path, even if we lose a few earthly things along the way and forget things on our calendar.

Yes, we have a life to live while on this earth but when we truly embrace the greatness of Jesus Christ that lives within us, everything is a loss and we can be okay with that. We can be at total peace despite what may be lost. The things I lose don’t matter. The forgotten things and the missed appointments really don’t matter compared to the One who has my heart.

We are chosen by the Father.

We are never forgotten by the Father.

We have an inheritance that will never fade.

And to the one who feels forgotten, Jesus is right there. You are never alone.

Maybe the feeling of forgotten dwells in your thoughts because you have been waiting for some time for an answer. But the One who dwells deep within you is working in the waiting. He hasn’t forgotten you.

While you cannot see the entire process and ways of the Father, He never forgets you. Those waiting moments are the perfect time for you to simply rest in the arms of the Father. Yes, it’s okay to rest in the waiting. You don’t have to anticipate what’s ahead. He hasn’t forgotten you. He hasn’t forgotten your dreams. He hasn’t forgotten your desires.

With Christ, we are never lost or forgotten.
