Jesus can give you new eyes. When you are in complete surrender to your Savior, He begins to open your eyes to see beyond what you’ve seen before. As He opens your eyes to see, your mind and heart are transformed in the process, too.
Have you ever been captivated by a glorious sunrise or sunset? You grab your phone and take a picture hoping to capture the beautiful sight. I have on countless occasions yet the photo never turns out exactly how my eyes perceive the beauty before me.
Your faithful Creator gives you eyes to see. He gives you eyes to take in His beautiful creation. Not only that, He gives you eyes to see deep within your own heart.
And going to the place deep within your heart is so good. It’s not what you may expect. If you think there is too much brokenness or darkness deep within your heart, can I encourage you that Jesus will make your heart burst with light?
Deep within your heart is where Jesus wants to meet you.
I have personally found when I’m wholeheartedly honest with Jesus, surrendering my heart completely to Him, I gain peace. Even more, I gain a new perspective.
When Jesus walked me through a pruning process a couple of years ago, my perspective changed so much. What I once held onto are now in His hands. At the beginning of that pruning, I felt like all I could see was darkness and brokenness. But now, I see. I see truth. I see hope. I see joy springing up within a broken heart.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
Matthew 6:22
How you see means a lot. How do you see yourself? How do you see God? Jesus is your most trustworthy friend who wants you to see the best in yourself. He wants you to see the purpose that He has instilled in you. He wants you to love as He loves.
Jesus is continually changing my perspective. My perspective has even changed with a cat this week!
I am a dog person at heart. I’ve never been a cat person but I decided to home a stray kitten. I understand dogs but cats, not so much. They are far different than dogs, that’s for sure.
Here’s how Jesus so tenderly spoke to me though as I started taking care of this little kitten.
Yes, dogs are my favorite and always will be. But Jesus does not pick favorites. He loves us all the same.
Jesus loves all. He loves the complicated. He loves the broken. He loves the one who has an attitude. He loves the one closed off. He loves the loud. He loves the quiet. He loves all.
I may not understand but my Savior knows all and freely gives understanding.
So this week, yes, a cat of all things, gave me new eyes. New eyes to look beyond my understanding and to be reminded of the love Jesus shares to all.
When we surrender all to Jesus, we gain new eyes, new eyes that give the best perspective.
So beautiful, Mel! Reminds me of that Brandon Heath song several years ago, โGive Me Your Eyesโ. ๐ Thank you for sharing!
