We just planted trees in our yard a few weeks ago. Forty of them! It really didn’t take that long to plant them but it does take some time to water them. They have to be watered every other day so I have to be intentional about watering them because I want them to live. I want them to grow. I want them to thrive.
Our amazing Father God wants the same for me – to live, to grow, and thrive. He wants the same for you. He desires for us to live. He desires for us to grow. He desires for us to thrive. Jesus wants us to truly live!
When I think of live, I think adventure. I have to admit, I am not the most adventurous though. You won’t find me first in line to get on a roller coaster and honestly won’t even find me in the line! And you won’t find me plunging into a river or sky diving either. While adventurous is not my nature, I still want to live life to the fullest. Even through the ordinary moments, I want to live with joy and expectancy – to fully live!
To fully live in what the Father has for us, we must trust the process of growth.
Growing is a process. It doesn’t happen in a blink of an eye. We have to wait. We have to endure different seasons. We have to trust the progress, no matter how small.
It’s going to take time for my new trees to grow. I must wait. And I must water and trust!
As I water these trees and desire them to grow, I find myself reflecting and asking myself the question, “What makes me grow?”
What makes you grow? What gives you life? The things that you are pursuing, do they make you grow? Do they fill you with life and joy?
Grow toward your purpose. Grow toward your reason. Our why can be a huge determinate of the fruit that grows out of our purpose. Why do we pursue the things we do?
What is the reason you live? What is the reason you want to grow? What is the reason you share your story? What is your reason?
More than anything, no matter what I do, I want my reason to be rooted in Jesus. I want my reason to be rooted in His perfect love.
My newly planted trees are very small. Their roots are still small and it will take time for them to grow strong, deep within the soil. It will take care. Light. Water. And more care.
Over time, they will be firmly rooted and will grow to be beautiful trees.
As we are rooted in the perfect love of Jesus, we, too, grow strong. We have the perfect love of Jesus living within us which is a beautiful reason to grow.
Thank you for the encouragement to keep growing!!! A lot of really great questions to ponder on today! 🙂
I agree with Crystal!♥️ There are several things I’m wanting to change in my life that I haven’t been very successful at thus far. So, as I prayerfully try to plan how it is I’m going to see change and growth in those areas, the questions you brought up are good stepping stones in how to do that. Thank you, Mel!!
