The goodness of God is always something we can be so grateful for. A friend text the song Goodness of God earlier this week and it’s been on repeat on my playlist every day. It’s become my heart’s song and I can’t help to reflect here today on the goodness of our God.
I love a good run every now and then. Running a 5k is something I enjoy, but if I’m honest, I’ve been known to run away when life gets tough. I’ve been the one to run away from trials, emotions, and decisions. But how I love how His goodness has captivated my mind and heart. Now, my heart just wants to run toward Him because I know the embrace of His love will hold me.
“All my life He has been faithful.” Do we go through some trials along the way in life? Absolutely! Do those trials make us stronger? Yes, they sure do. During the trials of life, when we’re right smack dab in the middle of it, it can be hard to see goodness. I believe we can all say, though, that once we get to the other side, we see His goodness. What I love about what the Father is teaching me, is that I can recognize His goodness even right in the midst of a trial.
The goodness of God flows in the good but it also flows even in the bad. When we’re laughing and dancing on the mountaintop, His goodness overflows. When we’re weeping in the valley, His goodness overflows. And even when we feel distracted and distant, His goodness overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalm 23:6
Here’s what I love about what David is saying in this verse – Where I go, goodness follows. Where I go, love follows. When I keep my eyes on the Father even through the trial, I am going to see His goodness and love. When I choose to take His hand in complete trust, I am going to see the goodness of God overflowing.
What an honor it is that we get to dwell in the house of our faithful Savior. We are His welcomed guest, always invited. We are welcome to stay. We never have to leave the goodness and love of Jesus.
When we dwell with Him, our hearts and minds can be occupied with perfect love. We are invited to the banquet table every day and even every moment. We are His honored guest.
Dwell where hope is. Dwell where love is. Dwell where goodness is.
My heart is overwhelmed with His goodness. I embrace His love even in the most ordinary of moments. I have seen how He has taken my prayers that I shared with the Father in the secret place, and how He has answered them in His perfect way, His perfect timing.
So much has reflected the goodness of God this week.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this past week. We laughed and reminisced. I rejoice in the goodness of God.
I’ve seen His goodness shine through a circle of friends who came together during the perfect time who have enriched my soul with truth and love of the Father.
I can’t help but embrace His goodness even in the challenging and sad times. He is always there with us.
Oh, how I love Him. His mercy never fails us, friends. He holds us. He picks us up when we fall. In every moment, He has been so faithful. He has been so, so good.
Oh, how I love His voice. He speaks to each of our hearts in extraordinary ways. May you embrace His voice as He speaks His goodness and love over you today.
His goodness runs after us! Let’s give Him everything today. Let’s not run from the trials, but let’s run toward Him and allow His goodness to run after us.
How have you seen His goodness this week? Share in the comments below or share with a friend this week. His goodness and perfect love will follow you always, in the highs and lows, on the mountaintop and in the valley. Friends, let’s keep running after His goodness!
