Seeds that Grow

I was taking a walk in the mountains last weekend and while it was chilly out, I embraced the sunlight and the anticipation of spring that I know is so close. Most of the trees didn’t have buds but I did notice that a few were trying. My soul was delighted at the glimpse of a twig that had buds on it.

Those few buds even in the middle of the winter trees sparked the hope of spring. And with the hope of spring brings the perfect time to start planting seeds of your favorite flowers or maybe your garden.

Maybe you’ve already planted and are just in a season waiting for the seeds to sprout. If they haven’t sprouted yet, I want to encourage you that His timing is perfect and growth will come if planted in good soil. Growth takes time but His timing truly is one that we can rely on. When we allow Him to take the lead in the growth process, it’s beautiful. As we rely on His light and Living Water, it will be a seed that grows.

I am not a gardener and am not a horticulture expert at all. I literally just had to throw away a house plant last week because I couldn’t keep it alive. I am so grateful that I have a Creator who knows all things and knows how to to keep me alive! But friends, I want us to be real. Do you feel alive? Are you alive with His joy and peace? I am a firm believer that we don’t have to follow the ways of this world – always being in a hurry, always worrying, always looking for the next best thing. We can rest and be alive, all in one. Don’t look at what the world is growing. It will not last. What the Father grows, is far better and lasts forever.

Forever is growing within you. Hold fast to Him. Stay planted in Him.

A seed that will always grow is the Word of God. Time and time again, Scripture has helped me in the growing journey. His Word equips and encourages. His Word gives hope and peace.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God.

1 Peter 1:23

If you have Christ living within you, you are alive! You have the most amazing imperishable seed planted within you. He is also using you along your journey to plant seeds.

When things don’t appear alive around us, we may not think growth is happening. Just because we can’t see what the Father is doing during the dark season, doesn’t mean that He is not moving and working.

Don’t forget the seed that has been planted in you. It takes time. You may feel like something is buried deep down and will never sprout but take heart, because if are looking toward His light and living water, it will grow.

If the season looks dry, be encouraged by the Living Water that is freely given to you by your Creator. If the seed planted is planted in good soil, it’s going to grow. Good soil is found as we abide and trust in the Father.

Good soil, along with light and living water, will be the exact place that you will see seeds that grow.
