There is something special about seeing the stars in the morning before dawn. There’s a stillness and peace that sparkle with them. While driving, I noticed a shooting star straight ahead of me. It was as if the Father wanted me to notice the star’s sparkling descent. It was slow and graceful. Such a simple moment, yet profound to my heart. It sparked hope deep within me. I love the stars. Something about them makes me pause for a moment. That shooting star was a small moment that early morning for me, a reminder to me of a Creator who holds great purpose.
David noticed the stars, too.
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
Psalm 147:4-5
God knows every star by name, and He knows us by name, too. God pays attention to every detail, even more so than the most detail-oriented person. He knows, sees, and understands far more than anyone.
God notices you, and He cares.
You’re never alone because the One who created and placed the stars in the sky created you. God placed you right where you are for a great purpose. If what you’re doing now feels ordinary, maybe gaze up at the sky, as crazy as that may sound, and look for the extraordinary from your Creator. Look at His wonder.
Oftentimes, it’s His wonder that circles me back to the true purpose.
Just as joy filled my heart when I saw the shooting star, when the Magi and those with him followed the star to find Jesus, they were overjoyed.
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
Matthew 2:10
They were overjoyed when they finally came upon the infant in the manager, Jesus, the Messiah. Simple yet profound. That’s how Jesus came into the world. There wasn’t a fancy inn that he was born in. No prestigious last names. No big party reveals before his arrival. Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem, smaller than others, yet the place chosen for Jesus’ arrival on earth. It wasn’t a place with the largest, well-known families, yet it became the perfect place where the star led the Magi to see Jesus.
Small things lead to great purpose.
What seems small in your life right now may actually be the small thing that leads you to a far greater purpose than you could ever imagine.
Look up at the stars and see how much the Creator loves you. Notice the small wonders and see the beauty God desires for you. Smile at the shooting star and thank the Father for giving a glimmer of hope.
In this Christmas season I look at the stars in the clear sky like last night I think of that star on that first Christmas night.
In the cold silence of that Bethlehem night by the baby Jesus first cry it meant more than a new life. It meant the birth of spiritual life, eternal life. No longer would mankind be in fear of death. Life itself was born in Bethlehem in a lowly manger on that first Christmas night.
Love this and love your , Jerry!!!
Love the verse … When they saw the star, they were overjoyed!!!!! Boy, I let myself get overwhelmed sometimes… But I should stop and see that Star!!!!! It will cause me to be overjoyed!!!!! They knew the star was a sign and they believed!!!! Thank you for the Way in the manger!
