Stand Out to Be Kind

We all see it. We’re all probably feeling it. There is no hiding the darkness that seems to be engulfing the world around us. The world seems to be a place of chaos and hatred. Sometimes the chaos seems to even be right at our own back doors as different opinions go back and forth among one another on social media.

For me lately, It takes a little longer to search out what is good and true, to find where kindness dwells. We need kindness more than ever right now. While it seems distant to me some days, I know that kindness is deep within each of us. Beyond all the darkness, there is light.

Even if there is chaos all around us, the light of Jesus is all around us. His light is much greater than the darkness that tries to prevail. There is hope, and that hope is within us. And I am trusting in the kindness that dwells in Jesus.

We can choose to stand out from the chaos and stand out in kindness.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12

Clothe yourself with all the things that will make our world a better place – compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Can we save the world? Of course not. Jesus reminds us that we will face trouble. But we can take heart and stand firm in love. We can stand out with kindness.

Be the light by speaking what is true and kind. Be the light by choosing to not say anything at all.

Bring kindness to someone through a smile. Recently, I took a walk in downtown and noticed that many people didn’t even realize I was passing by. I made it my small mission in the next thirty minutes to smile and say hello to everyone. Simple but I trusted that make a simple smile would make someone else’s day a little brighter. And even if it didn’t, it made a difference in my own soul choosing to share kindness.

Jesus delights when we stand out in kindness. We aren’t meant to stay in the chaos.

Kindness carries far more weight than the darkness of the chaos. Kindness is strong because it is rooted in compassion and love. Love is what moves our faith forward.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Despite darkness and trouble, those things don’t have to move us. We have His loving kindness dwelling deep within us to keep us standing firm.

Today, I hope kindness finds you.

When we choose love and kindness, we are going to stand out far greater than any darkness. As opinions go on and trouble tries to take our breath, may we not let it move us. May we stand out to be kind.
