Take Everything

Worship songs can become prayers to the Father. When I first heard “More Like Jesus” it became an instant prayer of honest surrender. And every time I hear this song, my heart goes to a place of surrender.

If more of you means less of me, take everything.

Yes, all of You is all I need, take everything.

Take everything. Take everything that is unnecessary in my life. Take everything that keeps me from Your love and peace. Take everything that holds me back from saying yes to You. Take every negative thought, every worry and every insecurity. Take every circumstance I am trying to control. Take everything. Take every broken piece and make something beautiful out of it for Your glory.

Allowing Jesus to take your everything takes honest surrender. Honest surrender is about entrusting everything to Him. We can confide in Jesus. About everything. And we can trust Him to take everything to make us more like Him.

He can even take the bad and bring something good.

He can take our sorrow and bring joy.

He can take our story and bring a testimony.

He must become greater; I must become less.

John 3:30

Less of me, and more of you, Jesus.

This song has been a prayer of mine for quite some time now. I have had to entrust everything to Him in the refining process. Refining is not easy and He pruned many branches in my life, taking some things away that were necessary. This song reminds me of the prayers I prayed and looking back, I can say that it was worth coming closer to Him. The refining process took me to a place of less of me, and more of Jesus.

How do we become more like Jesus? We can’t strive for perfection. All we have to do is say “Here I am, Jesus. I am coming to you in honest surrender. Father, I pray, make me more like Jesus.”

To be more like Jesus, we have to know Him. Choose Him as our best friend. Confide in Him. Talk to Him. Sing to Him, whether you can carry a tune or not. Just sit and hang out with Him.

When you entrust your heart and mind to Christ, you will encounter victory.

When you set your heart on becoming more like Jesus, you encounter His power. You encounter His peace. You encounter His hope.

Let’s become more like Jesus, and allow Him to take everything.
