The Author of Your Heart

You know those moments when you know you’ve encountered God? You know, those you-know-that-you-know moments? I have many of those moments that truly are unexplainable. You’ve been there, too. Even if we can’t quite express the experience, we can celebrate and rejoice together. The author of your heart rejoices with you, too.

I treasure how God can take my ordinary and speak His extraordinary goodness deep within my being. We have that extraordinary within us every day. Those are moments that can define our day rather than the mundane. Has He spoken to your heart through Scripture? Did He spark hope as you looked up to see the stars sparkling above? What is He speaking to your heart, even now?

Then I said, “Here I am, I have come – it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.

Psalm 40:7-8

David waited for God, and God gave him a new song. With all his heart, he knew it was written about him in the scroll. His heart was fully committed to trusting in God’s plans. David trusted. He knew no one compared. We, too, know what’s on the scroll.

I wanted to share with someone my excitement and thought of you right here on this blog. I had one of those extraordinary I know-that-I-know God was speaking to my heart, so much so that joy overflowed right there in the middle of an ordinary day. And then I read David’s words as he tried to recount the wonders of His creator.

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.

Psalm 40:5

When the unexplainable wonders capture your heart, let your joy overflow. Even if you don’t have words to express your encounter, allow the extraordinary goodness of God to pour out.

I imagine all my hurts, joys, and wonders written on a scroll tucked deep within my heart.

Jesus invites you and me to open our scrolls to Him and share His extraordinary goodness. What’s written on the scroll of your heart?
