I can get in a hurry sometimes. I’m running late, so I drive faster. I have too many things on my to-do list, so I rush through so I don’t feel overwhelmed. But what if I slowed down? Pausing is so good in a world that constantly rushes you to the next best thing. As soon as you think the best technology hits the market, retailers are already promoting the newer, better model. There is always this rush and push to go faster and be better. But what if we don’t have to rush ahead? What if the best is already right here?
Maybe it doesn’t feel like the best. Maybe you desire your circumstances to be better. Perhaps you’ve been praying for something for a long time, and nothing has changed. Maybe it looks brighter for someone else. What’s best for someone else may not be best for you. The best is right there within you, despite what it may look like.
What’s best? I thought of how God desires the best from us, our first fruits. What can you give God first? Does He want you to pause and rest awhile? Maybe He wants you to pause, not rush past even the circumstances you don’t understand. Just because it doesn’t feel the best doesn’t mean you’re not in good soil.
Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.
Exodus 23:19
I love that the first fruits in this verse represent the whole harvest. When we choose God above all else, we have the best. Not only does He desire our best, but He is also our best. The very best lives within us. We can find wholeness and rest in Him alone.
You’re in the best place when you choose to see the light, even in the darkness.
You’re in the best place when you decide to wait and be still rather than rushing forward.
When you choose the stillness of God rather than the rush of this world, you’re in the best place.
The best is already here when I decide to say something nice about myself rather than negative. The best is here when I choose to rest and stay awhile with Jesus rather than rush off to the next thing I need to do that can wait. We can find refreshment when we notice the beauty around us.
We hear it a lot. The best is yet to come. But what if the best is already here?
Thanks for this reminder that The Best is right in front of us and that is what we need to consciously choose. 🙌🏻
Such a great reminder! We have the Word! We have Him! We truly have what we need. I love the part about maybe what doesn’t look great to us doesn’t mean we are not in good soil!!!
