The Greatest Treasure Within

These days, I find myself settling into a chapter of Scripture for weeks. While it would be easy to want to jump ahead and move on, maybe it’s okay to turn our pause into settling in and staying awhile. We all know life can be a rush. It’s almost second nature. Can I say it? As we prepare for the most wonderful time of the year? I invite you and me to settle in what God is speaking to our hearts and stay awhile. May you find the greatest treasure within you.

Man’s hand assaults the flinty rock and lays bare the roots of the mountains. He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures. He searches the sources of the river and brings hidden things to light.

Job 28:9-11

Digging Deep

It’s fascinating how man can mine for the minerals deep within the earth. Man mines for silver, gold, sapphires, and rubies. We can dig deep and find all these treasures. As beautiful as sapphires and rubies may be, the greatest treasure is when we dig deep within ourselves to find wisdom.

Whether it’s finding the root of unforgiveness or simply finding a root that grows life and joy, we find those wisdom roots by braving the deep. We must be brave and not tunnel through to get to the other side. There are treasures in the deep.

Don’t Tunnel Through

I can tunnel through life sometimes, especially in the busy seasons of life. However, I don’t want to miss the treasures found deep within my soul. We have to be gentle in the process.

But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?

Job 28:12

We find wisdom from the Holy Spirit deep within us.

Life often causes us to search for answers and ask many questions. We desire to know. But can we be okay without an answer and instead settle into whatever wisdom tells us?

Sometimes, God may not give us a clear answer, not because He is holding it back. Rather, He gives us arrows to point us in the right direction. As we move toward wherever that arrow is leading us, we find treasures of hope along the way. And what’s more is the wisdom we can find as we ask our Father God. Seek His wisdom and stay awhile.

I was a kid who grew up in the desert for a few years and searched for rubies. Of course, they were not rubies, but to a little girl, the little red specks I found in the dirt were beautiful, bright red rubies. Today, what I find most beautiful is not rubies or answers to my questions but the treasure that wisdom is.

God’s wisdom is a treasure, a great mystery, as answers may not always surface. There is a great treasure and worth found when we pause to settle into His presence. As we do, wisdom joins us.

  1. Thanks sis! 🙂 He is our wisdom for sure. To know HIM is wisdom. Digging in the Word helps us Know who He is and what treasures lie within His Word when we take the time to dig. 🙂
