Truth is honest. Truth is the whole story. Truth is opening our heart wide and being real.
I love how the Apostle Paul was open and sincere when talking to the Corinthians. He spoke freely to the people. He was real with them, and he wanted them to be real back. He wanted them to receive God’s grace, receive His truth.
“As a fair exchange – I speak as to my children – open wide your hearts also.”
2 Corinthians 6:13
Think of the dear friend who pours truth into you. Even more, think of Father God who always has your undivided attention, waiting for you to pour out your heart to Him.
While Paul spoke freely to the Corinthians, they were holding back, withholding their affection. Maybe they didn’t know how. Maybe they didn’t want to.
For us today, is something in life causing us to withhold our affections from the Father? Are we withholding our honesty to just be real with the Father?
Truth. It will set us free.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32
Truth is Christ. Truth is love. Truth is real.
Truth takes intentionality from us. We have to be willing to be truthful about ourselves. We have to be willing to take off the masks (and not the trendy ones that we are wearing during the pandemic right now) but the masks that we hide behind. The mask of “I have it all together.” The mask of “I am not good enough so I am going to let someone else do that.” The mask of “I am just fine.”
So many masks. But He doesn’t want us to wear the masks. He doesn’t want us to hold back the truth.
When we allow His truth to be our very being, the truth brings us freedom. Our masks come off. We let the walls down and are completely honest.
Truth takes honesty. Truth takes sincerity. Truth takes openness. Truth means admitting we mess up and make mistakes sometimes. But the truth living within us allows us to get back up when we fall because our confidence belongs in the truth of the Father. Truth sets us free.
Wisdom from a friend that I took to heart is this – The truth is already there. It is within you.
Friend, we have the most amazing Savior living within us. We are a well that springs forth His truth. He doesn’t want us to hold back. He wants us to be free.
“Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the LORD.”
Lamentations 2:19b
Be real. Be honest. Allow the truth of His love to overflow in your heart. The truth is within you.
Such a good word from the Lord. Honesty before Him! Needed reminder! Thank you friend and mighty warrior!

Great way to start the week, being real before the Lord.
This really spoke to me, Melanie. These past weeks, I have found myself on a daily journey of “taking off the mask” and being more open and honest with God. While I consider myself to be an honest person, I will admit to you that I am beginning to be TOTALLY open with Him, especially with feelings and thoughts about myself and also those times when He doesn’t seem to intervene in a way I had hoped or prayed for. I guess you could say that I am learning to be more honest with God about not only praises but those moments of disappointments, too. Deep down inside, I think I was always afraid to share my doubts with Him because if I did, perhaps He wouldn’t love me the same. Just the opposite happens though because it creates an even deeper relationship. Thank you for being such a good example of living a life of truth and honesty.
Cheryl, loved this! ❤️
What a powerful word! A wonderful reminder that HE, Almighty God – through Jesus Himself is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Wow! I love that last scripture you brought to light too! Pour out your heart like water! That was a really good visual for me! A great reminder that we can just let go and bring it all before Him. So excited about this blog, sis! It’s very uplifting and powerful!!!!
Beautiful truth, Melanie!
