I got to talk with a great friend last week. We updated each other on our dreams. We shared our hearts. We laughed together.
My friend, rich in wisdom, got me thinking about hope.
What can we do in the moments when we need hope? This world will try to sneak and rob us of our hope and joy. This year alone has probably tried to steal hope from many of us.
But despite it all, my soul dances because the Father has drawn me closer to Him like never before. I imagine He has drawn you closer, too.
Even if darkness comes, the Light is so much brighter.
There is always hope in Jesus Christ.
He wants you to overflow with hope as Romans 15:13 says.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
In those times when life’s circumstances or your feelings try to get the best of you, what can you do to regain your hope?
My friend and I were asking each other this question and I thought it would be a great question to ask you, too.
What I do is quite simple. I speak truth over myself.
Simple, yes, but how I wish I would have spoken truth and kindness over my younger self. But I smile today because the Father has taught me so much and one of those simple truths is to speak love and life over myself. And when I do that, my heart is filled with hope.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
Hebrews 6:19
When darkness tries to consume you, speak His truth over yourself.
You have an anchor that will keep you secure and safe. This anchor in Christ is your defense. Your comfort. Your protection. Your support.
So what can you do when you need to be reminded that His hope is there?
Maybe you simply need to speak truth over yourself. Or find a new worship song that speaks to your heart. (Try Kari Jobe’s new album – I highly recommend that one!)
Sing to Him. Praise Him. Sit with Him. Dance with Him.
Jesus is with you and for you. With Him close, there is always hope.
