Have you ever been in a place where your thoughts were troubled yet you knew the peace of God was right there deep within? I found myself at that very place just the other day. When I turned to His word for encouragement, I found myself reflecting on David’s prayer. His prayer echoed the feelings of my heart and David’s prayer became my prayer.
Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me.
Psalm 55:1
I gave God my concerns. Did God immediately answer? While the outcome I desired in that very moment didn’t come to pass, I had peace. I knew He was with me and I knew no matter the outcome, I could trust that His way was best.
David’s thoughts were troubled yet he turned to the only One he knew would come through. My thoughts were troubled and I, too, knew that all I needed to do was simply ask.
Even when our thoughts are troubled, we know the One who hears our voice.
No matter the turmoil that is unfolding in our world today, just like David, we have a companion and close friend in Jesus who walks with us. He talks to us. He hears us.
When our thoughts become troubled, all we have to do is simply turn to Jesus. When we give our requests to God, we can trust Him no matter the outcome. He is trustworthy. He hears your voice and knows your heart.
Despite his concerns and troubles, David gave his cares to the Father. As he surrendered it all, his focus shifted from the battles of the world to the victories found in His faithful friend and Father God. Even in the midst of the bad, he chose to trust.
As for me, I trust in You.
Psalm 55:23
Choose trust.
As for me, I trust in You, Jesus.
As for me and for you, we can choose to trust Jesus.
Are we looking to everyone else that we are not looking within ourselves? Do you know what’s so amazing about looking within ourselves? I’m confident that if we are trusting in Jesus, when we look within, we are going to find the One and the only One we need, Jesus.
Overwhelmed with sorrow? Look within.
Feeling uncertain? Look within.
Not feeling worthy? Look within.
Don’t focus on the world or everyone else. Look at you. And yes, it’s okay to look at you. It’s not selfish at all. Despite all the bad in this world or circumstances out of our control, we can be like David and confidently proclaim, “As for me, I trust in You.”
We can trust the Father. He was so faithful to honor my prayers this week, time and time again. He answered. His timing was different than mine but He answered perfectly.
He heard my voice. He hears your voice, too. We are going to see victory, friends, as we trust in the One who Knows.
Love this reminder to stop in the middle of what seems chaotic, and refocus on God’s provision. He makes His deep-seated peace available even in the midst of trying times.
